Community Update: November 2026

November 4: Stormwater Conditions and Recovery Update

Plantation Acres Residents,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the impacts of this significant rainfall event.

All Plantation Acres pump stations have been operating at their full operational capacity since Sunday. However, the extraordinary amount of rainfall has exceeded the capacity of the drainage system, resulting in flooding currently affecting several areas throughout the Plantation Acres community.

Our Stormwater Division staff have been working around the clock, continuously monitoring water levels, inspecting drainage infrastructure, operating pump stations, and responding to flooding conditions throughout the community.

I personally toured several affected areas throughout Plantation Acres yesterday to assess the conditions and identify additional measures that could help alleviate the flooding. As a result, we have deployed several portable pumps at strategic locations throughout the community, including South Acres Park, where water is being discharged directly into the North New River Canal, and along Old Hiatus Road to assist with lowering water levels in the surrounding areas.

Please be assured that we are doing everything within our capabilities and utilizing all available personnel, equipment, and resources to manage this rainfall event, reduce water levels, and support the community's recovery as quickly as possible. Our Stormwater staff will continue working around the clock to monitor conditions and implement additional measures as needed.

We remain hopeful that weather conditions will improve, allowing the drainage system to gradually recover and water levels to begin receding. The rate of recovery will depend on weather conditions and downstream canal water levels.

I sincerely appreciate your continued patience, cooperation, and understanding during these challenging conditions. Rest assured that the safety of our residents and restoring normal conditions throughout the entire Plantation Acres community remain our highest priorities.

November 3, 2026:

Dear Plantation Acres Residents,

The City of Plantation is actively responding to flooding conditions throughout the Plantation Acres community following the significant rainfall experienced overnight. The area received approximately 5 inches of rain within 6 hours, exceeding the drainage system's capacity and resulting in widespread flooding.

All six Plantation Acres Improvement District (PAID) pump stations are currently operating. However, elevated water levels in the C-42 Canal are restricting the drainage system's ability to discharge stormwater effectively, resulting in slower-than-normal recession of floodwaters.

To help alleviate these conditions, the City is taking the following actions:

  1. Deploying additional portable pumps to supplement the existing drainage system.
  2. Coordinating with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to obtain emergency authorization for temporary pumping directly into the North New River Canal and C-42 Canal.
  3. Continuously monitoring canal elevations, pump station operations, and flooding conditions throughout the community.
  4. Working to identify additional measures to improve drainage and accelerate the recession of floodwaters.

We want to assure our residents that the City is utilizing available resources and working closely with regional agencies to address these conditions as quickly and safely as possible.

Residents are encouraged to avoid driving through flooded roadways, exercise caution around standing water, and report any hazardous conditions to the City.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews continue working to restore normal drainage conditions. Additional updates will be provided as conditions change.
