Community Update: 11.03.2026

Dear Plantation Acres Residents,

The City of Plantation is actively responding to flooding conditions throughout the Plantation Acres community following the significant rainfall experienced overnight. The area received approximately 5 inches of rain within 6 hours, exceeding the drainage system's capacity and resulting in widespread flooding.

All six Plantation Acres Improvement District (PAID) pump stations are currently operating. However, elevated water levels in the C-42 Canal are restricting the drainage system's ability to discharge stormwater effectively, resulting in slower-than-normal recession of floodwaters.

To help alleviate these conditions, the City is taking the following actions:

  1. Deploying additional portable pumps to supplement the existing drainage system.
  2. Coordinating with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to obtain emergency authorization for temporary pumping directly into the North New River Canal and C-42 Canal.
  3. Continuously monitoring canal elevations, pump station operations, and flooding conditions throughout the community.
  4. Working to identify additional measures to improve drainage and accelerate the recession of floodwaters.

We want to assure our residents that the City is utilizing available resources and working closely with regional agencies to address these conditions as quickly and safely as possible.

Residents are encouraged to avoid driving through flooded roadways, exercise caution around standing water, and report any hazardous conditions to the City.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews continue working to restore normal drainage conditions. Additional updates will be provided as conditions change.
